Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden title for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, winning just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's first trophy following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of the previous year.
Victory also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 different tournaments.
"For the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.
The player's counter-punching approach and regular reactions on court had prompted commentators to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.
Yet the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an better serve.
The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five games to take the lead.
The pair exchanged service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to create a third set.
He saved four initial chances in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
